Desert
Desert
Site-Specific Installation & Workshop – 2019
Desert is a site-specific, ephemeral installation placed along the edge of a sand dune. A nearly kilometer-long strand of green tinsel shards tied to a concealed rope creates the illusion of unnatural grass cutting through the desert. Glinting under the sun, the piece explores themes of movement, illusion, and the artificial in a natural setting.
The installation features:
Shiny green tinsel fragments cut at varying lengths and tied onto heavy rope and wire string.
Both ends anchored with rocks, with the strand partially buried beneath the sand.
A visual study in shifting wind, texture, and artificial vegetation glowing against the dunes.
Medium: Tinsel, Wire Rope, Natural Rock Weights
Presentation: Site-specific and temporary installation documented by video
Workshop: Hands-on strand-making session developed in conjunction with the piece
