Kibimosht
Celebrating a marriage of cultures between Japan and the United Arab Emirates

Kibimosht
Hybrid Textile Installation – 2017
Made for the East-East: UAE Meets Japan exhibition, this installation fuses the Emirati bisht with the Japanese kimono. The resulting garment is intentionally unwearable—constructed to exist as an oversized, contemplative sculpture. Its exaggerated sleeves, narrow torso, and floating presence signal a postmodern tribute to cross-cultural tradition.
The piece features:
A blend of Japanese kimono cotton and Emirati bisht wool.
Minimal gold trim and long tassels framing the structural silhouette.
A fashion-fiction installation that imagines future heritage.
Medium: Wool, Cotton, Gold Trim, Tassels
Presentation: Artist's collection; available for exhibition on loan upon request
